PROMOTE/REDUCE DIGITAL DIVIDE
- As a teenager and as a student, the best thought that comes in my mind in combating or reducing digital divide is to ask for the government's support to build public computer shops that is only accessable for research and educational purposes so that the students can have their research and still they can able to get informations although they dont have any gadgets that can access internet.
But of course, one of the best way to combat digital divide is to start within ourself. We must learn how to be thrifty and saved money so that we can able to buy our needs like gadgets, especially now that new media is really needed in research and gathering/getting informations.
COMBAT DIGITAL ADDICTION
- Online access is a vital part of the modern world and an important tool in the education of every students. These qualities also make it an escape for many children.They can be anyone in an online chat room.With the click of a mouse, they can enter a different world where the problems of their real life are no longer present and all the things one wishes he/she could be or experience are possible. Like addiction to drugs and alcohol, the internet offers children and adolescents a way to escape painful feelings or troubling situations. They sacrifice needed hours of sleep to spend time online and withdraw from family and friends to escape into a comfortable online world that teenagers have created and shaped. Teenagers/Children who suffer from poor social skills and have lack of nurturing relationship skills are at a greater risk to developing inappropriate online habits. Because they feel alone and have problems making friends, they turn to visible strangers in online chat rooms looking for the attention and companionship missing in their real life.
So to combat digital addiction, the government must create an organization and programs that could help guide the teenagers and children which are not family oriented, to give them awareness about what are the disadvantages of being addicted to internet.
COMBAT CYBER BULLYING
- To combat cyber bullying, we must triple the penalty of a person that will be found guilty of cyber bullying. Its not just a minor kind of a crime, it can ruin a person's life and even push a person to commit suicide. Cyber bullying is an act of cruelty commited using the internet or any form of electronic media or technology that has the effect of stripping ones dignity or causing reasonable fear, physical and emotional harm. The repeated sending of offensive photos of the victim with or without consent is also a form of cyber bullying, as long as it has the intention to humiliate and embarass the victim.
So to effectively stop or atleast combat cyber bullying, those who will be found guilty shall be fined
Php150,000 instead of Php50,000 but not more than Php250,000 and imprisonment of not less than six months but not more than six years. In this way, no one will dare to do cyber actions that would result to cyber bullying.
ETHICAL USE OF MEDIA AND INFORMATION
- The ethical use of media and information is to share a person's knowledge by contributing reliable informations to the internet which could help other people to learn and gain knowledge by having those informations. Media and information is not made to result cyber bullying and digital addiction. It is made to unite the human kind with the use of broadcast media, print media, and of course the new media wherein we all are united. It serves as a bridge to be connected to people all over the world and especially to our love ones who's working far from us.
OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN MEDIA AND INFORMATION
- The opportunities in media and information is that people can share information having different sources and it is good for business exposure and the challenges of it is that we cant give assurance if the specific information is reliable or not and also for business matter, phishing and scamming are some of the top cases that happened over internet.
