DIGITAL DIVIDE
Is a term that refers to the gap between demographics and regions that have access to modern information and communications technology, and yhose that dont or have restricted access. This technology can include the telephone, television, personal computers and the Internet. Well before the late 20th century, digital divide referred chiefly to the division between those with and without telephone access; after the late 1990s the term began to be used mainly to describe the split between those with and without Internet access, particularly broadband. The digital divide typilly exists between those in cities and those in rural areas; between educated and the uneducated; between groups; and, globally, between yhe more and less industrially developed nations. Even among populations with some access to technology, the digital divide can be evident in the form of lower-performance computers, lower-speed wireless connections, lower-priced connections such as dial-up, and limited access to subcription-based content. Proponents for closing the digital divide include those who argue it would improve literacy, democracy, social mobility, economics equal and economics growth.

MEDIA ETHICS
Is the subdivision of applied ethnics dealing with the specific ethnical principles and standards of media, including broadcast media, film, theatre, the arts, print media and the internet. The feild covers many varied and highly controversial topics, ranging from war journalism to Benetton advertising.

WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING
Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. electonic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social sites, text messages, chat, and websites.

EFFECTS OF CYBERBULLYING
Cell phones and computers themselves are not to blame for cyberbullying. Social media sites can be used for activities, like connecting kids with friends and family, helping students with school, and for entertainment. but these tools can be used to hurt other people. whether done in person or through technology, the effects of bullying are similar.
Kids who are cyberbullied are more likely to:
-use alcohol and drugs
-skip school
-experience in person bullying
-be an willing to attend school
-recieve poor grades
-have lower self esteem

WHAT IS DIGITAL ADDICTION
the term digital addiction is fairly broad, but it covers video games, tfe Internet, social media, technology and other addictions, as well as having some overlap with pornography addiction. This is where really comes from. But it isnt only drugs and alcohol that have this effect in the brain: In fact, sex, food, gambling and many other activities can do the same thing, and therefore can be addictve. Research might be limited, but similar brain changes have been observed in Internet addicts, leading to increased dopamine in the brain and boosted blood flow to reward and pleasure centers.

HOW COMMON IS DIGITAL ADDICTION
This is challenging, though, because there are many specific addictions contained within the general term and they arent often clearly and rigidly defined. However, ther is evidence from specific studies that give some indication. In some parts og Asia, the rate may be as high as 26 percent, and China has identified Internet addiction as one of its main public health risks.

GETTING HELP FOR DIGITAL ADDICTIONS
For those stuggling with digital addictions, getting help isnt always easy. While treatmentis relatively similar to that for other addictions only limited options exist for addressing things like social media, Internet or gaming addictions. Abstinence or avoidance of triggers is difficult for digital addictions, given that most people are expected to use the Internet, cell phones and social media, and-as McKenna poited out-avoiding temptation can be next to impossible. Realistically, the abstinence-based approach used for drugs and alcohol hasto become a little more nuancrd dealing with digital addictions.

OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FOR MEDIA AND INFORMATION
*Customers no longer want to be talked at. Instead, they are looking for organizations to listen, to appropriatelt engage, and to respond to them.
*Using social media as a sales and maketing tool ios a very inexpensive mode of advertising because it reached a vast audience for a marginal investment.
*Social media is an ideal venue in which to establish tour company as a thought leader.
*Social media could be used as aforum for disgruntled employees to launch online attacks against companies or employees, thereby creating possible litigious situations.
