“Defying Digital Divide, Digital Addiction and Cyber bullying"

Digital divide
What is digital divide? How can we strive against it? Who are the affected people in it? What are the factors why did digital divide happen?
Digital divide it is the gap between the people who a internet access and to the people who doesn't have internet access. Mostly the affected people in this situation are the people who doesn't have any internet access because they can’t afford to have an access to the internet and According to Aleph Molinari there are three main factors why the Digital Divide happens:
  •  Lack of Access due to affordability,
  • Lack of knowledge on how to use the technology
  • Lack of knowledge of the benefits of the technology.
We can downgrade digital divide by:
  •  Reducing the cost in connecting internet in houses,
  • The government should make a law that internet is accessible to all public places,
  • NGO and LGU's perpetrate a forum about the benefits and how to use new technology in rural places.
  • Government should provide some computer to schools and it should be open to all student for their needs.

Digital Addiction
Digital addiction is the ineptitude to control your hanker in using digital-age technology like computers and smartphones. You can felt perturbation when you are far from your smartphone it’s like you cannot live without those gadgets and it can sway your daily work or routine in your life. Mostly teenager and those non-working people are the one who is very affected in this case, example when you are addicted at this certain game (like pokemon go) you keep playing and finding pokemon all day.

We can obviate digital addiction by:
  • Set a limited time for computer and smartphone application,
  • Make copies of the information you need,
  • Immerse yourself with outside activity like sports, hiking and adventure,
  • Hang out with friends and plan some family night out,
  • Denigrate your technology usage, use only your smartphones and computer when you need it
  • Set aside your smartphones, Laptop and computers for a while.

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is to threaten, harass, sending mean message, making fun of a person or to intimidate a person through the use of computers, social media and smartphones; it is also the act of bullying through the use of internet and social networking sites with an anonymous person.
Any one can commit cyberbullying but mostly teenagers are the who is very known in this cases. According to Sam laird published article on Mashable Life 42% of teenagers with technology access report being cyberbullied over the past year and  69% of teens that own their own computer or smart phone, 80% are active on social media. A simple message, a simple status or calling of names but it can trigger up a million emotions that can lead to stress then depression and then death.

         To preclude cyberbullying we must:
  • Think positive,
  • Talked to a trusted person or a elder about your case,
  • Save some evidence that you were being cyber bullied,
  • Think before you post,
  • Set privacy controls in your account/s,
  • Log out your account on public computer like internet café (Protect your account),
  • Be a friend not a by stander(Take some action),
  • Don’t requite.

Advocate Ethical use of Media and Information

First let me define the word "ethical", according to Vocabulary.com dictionary ethical means that it describes a person's behavior as right in the moral sense - truthful, fair, and honest. Base on the given definition it only means that ethical use of media and information signify the proper way/s and behavior of a person when using media and gathering information. For me to attain our pretension when using media and gathering information we should be a media literate person or individual. A media literate individual has the capability to analyze, understand and critiques a media.
Here are some proper behavior and way/s of person when using media and gathering information :

  • A person shouldn't use another person's work or in a person should not plagiarize.
  • He/she should know how to critique and appraise a media
  • In social media you should be careful of what you were posting and always remember "Think before you click"
  • In social media be careful of who you add up in your friends.
  • Look for credible, authoritative sources.
  • Look for consensus.
